About ButcherBox

ButcherBox was founded by Mike Salguero after he participated in a grass-fed cow share program and was instantly impressed with the taste and health advantages that came with eating grass-fed beef rather than grain-fed beef. He looked into the topic more and learned that only about 1% of the beef consumed in the United States is 100% grass-fed and not everyone has access to it. As a result, he founded ButcherBox, a monthly meat delivery subscription box, to help drive the market for 100% grass-fed beef and make it more accessible to everyone.

Today, over 10,000 homes subscribe to ButcherBox and are experiencing the taste and health benefits of grass-fed beef and other fine meats. All animals with ButcherBox are free of antibiotics and hormones and are humanely raised. All beef is raised in pastures and free to roam. All pork and chicken have plentiful outdoor access, and they're raised on an all-vegetarian diet that’s a blend of foraging and provided feed.

Here’s how ButcherBox works: First, you select which box you want out of the available options. Choose a mixed box with beef, chicken and pork, beef and pork, beef and chicken, all beef or create a custom box. With a custom box, you can select from up to 21 different cuts of pork, chicken and beef in whatever combination you want. The custom box comes with 20% more meat than the other curated boxes with 9 to 14 pounds of meat, so it’s no wonder it’s the most popular choice. After you choose your plan, your meats will be frozen at the peak of freshness, individually vacuum-packed and shipped to you first-class in a box of dry ice.
